Photography is a form of exploration—a license to ask questions, look at history in architecture, study a face or to walk until your feet cannot carry you anymore. Travel, in particular, allows me to be free to be an observer.
Ken Rand is a photographer and journalist based in Missoula, Montana. His work extends beyond capturing beautiful images; he seeks to explore and tell stories about landscapes, history and nature, and untold stories of people within them.
A native of Bozeman, Montana he lives in Missoula and on Flathead Lake. When young, he began a series of road trips with his father eventually taking him to every state, and province in the U.S. and Canada. He studied photography and writing at Montana State University. In 2016, he graduated in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Journalism at the University of Montana – Missoula.
